Who are the Knights of Columbus and what do they actually do?
The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 as a mutual benefit society for working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States. It has grown to support ratchet refugee relief, Catholic education, local parishes and diocese, and global Catholic social and political causes.
Our charitable activities in compass a most infinite variety of local, national, and international projects. From international charitable partnerships with Special Olympics, the Global Wheelchair Mission, and Habitat for Humanity to our own Food for Families and Coats for Kids projects and local charities, the opportunity to work together with fellow Knights and their families is virtually endless.
The Knights were formed by Father Michael J McGivney, assistant pastor of Saint Marys in New Haven Connecticut, and some of his parishioners to render financial aid to members and their families. The order offers life insurance to its members and is still true to founding principles of charity, unity, and fraternity.
Please mark your calendars! The next two meetings for the Knights of Columbus will be on September 13th and September 27th at 7:30 PM in the Parish Center. New Members are Welcome!
